The Perth Courier records the many diverse ventures of David Hogg Sr. (1807-1883) and his family. Beginning in 1834 he owned and developed everything from the making of fine furniture (some of which is on display at the Perth Museum) to being the town's undertaker. He founded what today is Blair & Son Funeral Home, both businesses he would continue with his son. David Hogg Sr. is also listed in the financial records of the early settlement as being the Bailiff, the High Constable and official Town Crier for the Bathurst Council and the Courts.

David Hogg Jr. continued the path and business established by his father and became known to everyone in the town. His obituary in the Perth Courier (January 3, 1930) noted "He was a friend to and of everybody, uniformly kind and courteous, deeply devoted to his family and church, St. James Church of England, always greatly interested in matters pertaining to the town, and throughout his long and active life exercised a profound influence for good in the community.",

Also interred here are Isabella Inglis Hogg (1813-1881) and Matthew Drummond Hogg (1848-1940).

As an aside note ... it can be vary confusing researching "David Hogg" since there were many family members all bearing the same name.

Unfortunately the news of the day rarely distinguished which one they were referring to and we are left to try and weave the accounts of the day into one narrative.
